Senate committee chairman push more open for Korea beef marketOne issue for Korea-US free trade deal might have to be handled before the agreement goes to Congress and White House. Senate Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus (D-Mont.) is siding with cattle ranchers who were shut out of the deal. His position for the trade agreement is “reconsider until S.Korea’s import obstacle on U.S. beef is handled.” He has pledged opposition until S.Korea handles restrictions on the many U.S.beef exports it has barred. The U.S-Korea Free Trade Agreement is a key item on Obama’s job-creation agenda, as he and his staffs repeatedly said of its importance. But Baucus, whose committee oversees trade issue, said “I don’t support Korea until it opens up its market.”He has not said whether he will merely vote against the agreement or will use his authority as committee chairman to block it. The beef from U.S issue has been more about politics than economics. Still, many politicians from S.Korea and U.S. remember the furious many Korean protesters who think U.S beef is unsafe and took to streets for a long time in 2008.One of the main issues was the age of imported beef. Seoul’s negotiator insisted that they will not give more ground beyond a 2008 concession allow imports of beef from U.S. cattle that are less than 30 months old. But, now, many U.S. cattle farmers would benefit under the trade pact. U.S. beef exports have been rising sharply since 2008, and the exclusion for older beef covers only a small portion of the potential exports, reported Washington Post. According to Washington Post, The National Cattleman’s Beef Association said many beef producers would benefit form the 40 percent drop in tariffs on the bulk of what they sell. The group does not want a standoff over older beef to stand in the way of a final deal. (아주경제 송지영 춘천파마잘하는미용실 욕창치료 당뇨 역류성식도염치료 조루 보험비교 구취두바보의재무설계 강남브라질리언왁싱 유통회사기자)[아주경제 ajnews.co.
